This vessel was turned from a truly extraordinary blank of Claro Walnut Burl from Oregon, with superb figure and wonderful color. The finial was turned from Ceylon Ebony, a pure black wood with no visible grain. Finely sanded and sealed; after sealing, Danish oil was rubbed into the wood, followed by hand rubbing with a combination of carnauba and beeswax in a light solvent. This finish has a very light and transparent quality.
