This enclosed form has been turned from Sapele, also known as African Mahogany Entandrophragma cylindricum. Highly prized, this wood from tropical Africa has a beautiful soft golden brown color and subtle figure. It is made especially beautiful by an outstanding iridescence, or more accurately chatoyance, a beautiful optical reflection found in certain gemstones and woods.
The inlay material here is crushed (genuine) turquoise.
